The
mark of a truly great sire is his ability to pass on the essential
characteristics of refinement, conformation, balance and class,
and Legionaire was such a stallion. He is considered to be
one of the greatest broodmare sires that ever lived, and his
celebrated daughters possess the refinement, elegance and
inherent beauty that reproduces itself in their foals. Many
old and new breeders covet the "Legionaire" pedigree
in their breeding stock as it crosses well with other bloodlines
to consistently produce refined foals with his tiny head,
enormous eyes, level top line and natural champion "presence".
At the time of his death, from one registry alone, Legionaire
had sired 128 foals, was the grandsire of over 500, and great-grandsire
of over 700. There is no doubt that the entire miniature horse
industry will continue to benefit from the genetic impact
of this great producer for many generations to come. Those
who are lucky enough to own any of his progeny possess a treasure
to be cherished. This grand old man will be dearly missed,
but will continue to live on through his legacy of superior
quality miniature horses all over the world.

This photo was taken
of Pie just fter his first and only time in the show ring.
He
was the most gorgeous horse we've ever owned &
we loved him dearly. To compare him to all the other horses
I've driven would be like roller-skating on gravel &
then going ice-skating. It was a truly unbelievable experience
and we were looking forward to driving himfor many years,
both in & out of the show ring....
Pie was truly
a blessing to our lives & we'll always miss him.
